Bible translation
Bible translation has been at the heart of Bible Society work since the formation of the very first Bible Society more than 200 years ago. Over the years, through careful academic research on the original texts and the publishing of scholarly editions, and through the recruitment of highly qualified Translation Consultants and comprehensive translator training programs, the Bible Society movement has become the world’s foremost Bible translation and distribution agency. And partnering with all Churches to produce accurate translations of the Bible is one of the driving principles of Bible Society mission.
HIV/AIDS: The Good Samaritan Program
The Catholic Church and the Bible Societies work together to bring hope and comfort through programs such as Where it the Good Samaritan Today? This is a Bible-based HIV/AIDS education initiative developed by the Bible Societies and run in partnership with Churches in many African countries.
God's word for all
An abiding legacy of over 200 years of the Bible Society movement is that the Bible Society is sometimes the only meeting place in a country where Churches can come together around one table. As Bible Societies listen to the needs expressed by Church leaders from different backgrounds, new relationships can emerge.
Working with young people
Bringing the Scriptures into the home is a key element of Bible Society activity. A particular concern is to help young people to build their lives on God’s Word. Reaching families with the Gospel message is the driving force behind the Philippine Bible Society’s Light to the Home program, as well as the work of Bible Societies in countries such as Lebanon and Albania.
